Jillian Steinhauer
Jillian Steinhauer writes about the politics of art and comics for publications like the New York Times, New York magazine, the Nation, and the New Republic. She was a recipient of a 2019 Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers grant for short-form writing and won the 2014 Best Art Reporting Award from AICA-USA for her work at Hyperallergic, where she was formerly a senior editor. In 2019, she curated an exhibition about grief at EFA Project Space.
Jillian teaches in the Journalism + Design program at the New School and organizes with the Freelance Solidarity Project. She has a master's degree from the Cultural Reporting and Criticism program at New York University and a bachelor’s in comparative literature from the University of Michigan. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband and two cats.
