Steven Litt
Steven Litt has been the art and architecture critic of The Plain Dealer in Cleveland, Ohio, since 1991, covering art museums and galleries, plus architecture, urban design, and city and regional planning in Cleveland, northeast Ohio, and the industrial Midwest. He previously worked at several newspapers in New York state and North Carolina, including The News & Observer in Raleigh. His work has appeared in ARTnews, Metropolis, Architecture, and other magazines. Steve earned a bachelor’s degree in art from Brown University, a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University, and a master’s degree in city planning from Cleveland State University.
Steven was a Helena Rubenstein Fellow in the Independent Study Program at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. He was also a Michigan Journalism Fellow at the University of Michigan, where he studied architecture and city planning. Steve has been named best critic in Ohio 10 times since 2004 either by the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists or the Cleveland Press Club. His other awards include the Cleveland Arts Prize and the Centennial Award of the Ohio Chapter of the American Planning Association. He was inducted into the Cleveland Press Club Hall of Fame in 2016.
