Rabkin Collection

Leo Rabkin’s career was marked by throughlines of aesthetic ideas but a rich and wide-ranging experimentation of materials and emotion. He worked with a cloud of powdered watercolor pigment on mulberry paper; stitched lines made with needle and thread; folded paper; torn canvas; light bulbs; flocking; shredded fibers; everyday found materials; and hundreds of boxes (the artist Augusta Palmer made a series of short films, like this one, about his work). Below, you will find an overview of Leo’s many methods and moods to explore, all part of the foundation’s collection.
